Penny A Day Savings Challenge

I’ve never been the best at saving money, but then again I’m pretty frugal. I won’t spend a ton of money on something I can get at a discount.  A few days ago I saw on Instagram a couple of different challenges in order to save money this 2016. The one I decided to take upon myself is the Penny A Day challenge.

Essentially every day this year (366 days – since it’s a Leap Year) you add one penny for each corresponding day of the year. For example, on Day 1 you put $0.01 in, on Day 160 it’ll be $1.60, and on Day 366 you’ll add in $3.66. Sounds simple enough and I’m really excited about it.

Since I’m pretty anal retentive and love Microsoft Excel so much, I made a spreadsheet to stick on the container. When I looked at the formula when I was finished I laughed at myself for how crazy I am to have actually done this. But, isn’t that formula a beauty? #nerdalert

I bought a container at Dollar Tree and used some ribbon to decorate it a bit. I then printed out my Excel spreadsheet on sticker paper and voilà!

Do you have any savings tips and trick that you do each year?
